Water FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions about Bottled Water, Tap Water, Reverse Osmosis, Ionized Alkaline Water and Kangen Water Ionizer Machines

Q: Bottled water is always cleaner and safer than tap water, right?

A: Probably not. Public tap water is strictly regulated by the U.S. EPA with mandated compliance testing and public reporting. Bottled water is regulated by the U.S. FDA as a food, and bottlers are not required to publicly disclose the source, purification methods, or contaminant test results. It’s estimated that 30% or more of bottled water comes straight from the tap, with little or no additional purification. Learn more.

Q: Why wouldn’t I want to drink “pure” water filtered by reverse osmosis?

A: Reverse osmosis filtration removes most contaminants, but it also strips the water of essential minerals, making it demineralized and acidic. Drinking demineralized water contributes to mineral deficiencies, which can negatively impact heart and bone health. Learn more.

Q: What are the benefits of Kangen Alkaline Water for athletes?

A: Two of the most important benefits of Kangen Ionized Alkaline water are rapid rehydration and pH balancing. Kangen Water is broken down by electrolysis into “micro-clusters” that are much smaller and more rapidly absorbed than regular water. The high alkalinity of Kangen Water helps to flush metabolic wastes such as lactic acid from the muscles and cells, balancing blood pH, and reducing recovery time and muscle soreness. Learn more.

Q: Does the quality of tap water used to make Kangen water affect the pH?

A: Yes, the level of carbon dioxide in the water as well as its mineral content can affect electrolysis, and the final pH and taste of the Kangen water. When using a water source of unknown quality, test the pH of the water produced to confirm the alkalinity is at the correct level, and adjust as needed.

Q: How long can the different types of Kangen water be stored?

A: Kangen drinking water (Purified and Alkaline Waters) should be consumed fresh, and stored in the refrigerator no longer than 4-5 days. Water in individual drinking bottles should be replaced with fresh or refrigerated stored water daily. Kangen water used for sanitizing and cleaning (Acidic Water, Strong Acidic Water, and Strong Alkaline Water) should also be stored in a light-proof container in a cool, dark place, and should be replaced at least weekly. Learn more about the 5 types of Kangen Water.

Q: Does Kangen Water change when heated or refrigerated?

A: Yes, the ORP and pH changes when the water is heated. ORP will change when the water is chilled, but the pH will remain the same for several days, depending on the quality of water.

Q: Can Kangen Alkaline Water be used to take medication?

A: Kangen Alkaline Water is intended for every day drinking and cooking only. Do not take any prescription or over-the-counter medication with Alkaline Water without first consulting with your doctor. Alkaline Water can raise stomach pH, and could affect absorption of certain medications. pH neutral Purified Water is safe for use with medications. Learn more about the 5 types of Kangen Water.
